Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain turned the page this summer, but they are always tangled in a financial dispute. The latest update is that they are ready has meet with a legal committee to sort things out.
According to a report in Le Monde last monthMbappé is still waiting for the €55 million he is owed under his contract with PSG. The French player has taken the matter to the legal committee of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) and has involved UEFA via the French Football Federation (FFF).
Le Monde also recalls that Mbappé seized the LFP legal committee on August 8, invoking article 259 of the charter of French professional football. This article stipulates that clubs must pay players’ salaries no later than the last day of each month, under ordinary legal conditions.
Amid the ongoing conflict, Robin Bairner, PSG Talk contributor and editor-in-chief of FootballTransfers.com noted that if both sides stick to their positions, This situation can only be resolvedd to court.
“Mbappé and PSG seem to be entrenched in their positions and do not want to give an inch” Bairner wrote in his latest column PSG Talk Extra Time“Neither side wants the embarrassment of a battle that ends up in court, but neither side wants the ignominy of a retreat either.
“But the longer the dispute drags on, the greater the risk of a legal battle, while relations between Mbappé and PSG seem increasingly strained.”
